Okeechobee Main
Street will be participating in the “Adopt a Precinct” program of
the Supervisor of Elections Office. If you would like to join our
team to work at the polls on Election Day please call me at

Okeechobee Main Street’s August Mixer will be held on Tuesday the
24th and hosted by the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and
Suites. Join us at 3101 Hwy 441 South from 5 – 7pm. Our mixers are
a great networking opportunity for the businesses and residents of
our area. If know someone with a new business, new to our area or
just want to know more about Okeechobee Main Street invite them to

The Business
Development Board is beginning to form their next 2 Network
Committees. They are looking for people for the Creative Services
Network Committee (i.e. Website Design, Photography, Fine Arts etc…)
as well as the Public Relations Committee. The Public Relations
Committee would assist in securing more press coverage regarding
Okeechobee’s positive business climate as well as other related
business topics and progress. The initial informational meeting will
be Wednesday August 11th from 12 noon to 1pm at The
Hampton Inn meeting room. Please bring your own lunch. Anyone

The American Cancer
Society is recruiting volunteer’s interesed in making a difference
in the fight against cancer! The Okeechobee Office is in immediate
need of volunteers willing to perform light office work and to
assist cancer patients in their Resource Boutique as well as event
volunteers to help plan and execute “Relay for Life”. Please call

The Fraternal Order of Police, Okeechobee Lodge 69 and the
Professional Firefighters & Paramedics of Okeechobee IAFF Local 2918
will be sponsoring a “Meet the County Commissiner Candidates” Forum
on Tuesday, August 10th beginning at 7:00pm at the Okeechobee High
School Auditorium. This is a public forum for the citizens of
Okeechobee to meet and question current candidates for the
Okeechobee County Commission. Come meet the people who may be
making decisions for your future.
If your summer camp is ending before summer is finished, come on
over to the “Y.” The YMCA Summer camp is running through Friday,
August 13th. Plenty of space available for students!

The Brahma Bull Restaurant invites you to their 1st
Annual Brahma Bull Golfer’s Appreciation Tournament to be held at
Blue Heron golf Course on Saturday, August 14th. It’s a
4 man scramble with 36 team availability. Cost is $110 per team and

The Shared Services Network is pleased to present the Second Annual
Tween Summit, Friday, August 20 in the Freshman Campus Auditorium
located at 610 SW 2nd Avenue. This educational Summit is
for 10-12 year old children and his/her parent(s). The goal is to
equip both parent and child with tools for better communication and
additional tools for the child to make positive life choices. The
Summit is FREE and includes dinner along with backpacks and school
supplies to the first one hundred, 10-12 year old children.
Martha’s House is having a FAMILY FUN DAY on Saturday, August 21st
from 1:00 - 5:00. There will be slides, bounce houses, a celebrity
dunk tank, music, hula hooping contests, 3 legged and sack races and
many more family activities! Vendors will be on site with crafts,
information and refreshments. Come participate in Family Fun Day
events and show us what your family is made of! Vending spaces are

Okeechobee County Tourist Development Council is the host county
for the Regional Tourism Summit: Advancing Tourism in South Central
Florida on Sept. 22. The PENNYSAVER will have a “Welcome to

The SBDC at Indian River State College, Regions Bank and the
Hampton Inn in Okeechobee are offering a 4-session workshop to help
small business owners boost profits by learning how to manage their
financials. This workshop is intended for those new to business
ownership or those wanting to sharpen their financial management
skills. Review basic financial statements; learn the techniques used
by bankers and credit companies to evaluate businesses. Participants
will also learn how to calculate breakeven points and develop a
pricing strategy for their product or service. Class dates:

The Main Street
Clip Board is sent out to our membership and area non-profit
agencies each Monday. All items submitted must be in by noon on the
Friday before and can be included up to 2 weeks prior to your
